Visa and travel Requirements

Visa on Arrival
Most international travelers can get a Visa on Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu) and at all major land borders. You need:

  • A passport valid for at least 6 months

  • A passport-sized photo (optional, as photo machines are available at the airport)

  • Visa fee (payable in cash/various currencies)

Tourist Visa Fees

  • 15 Days: USD 30

  • 30 Days: USD 50

  • 90 Days: USD 125

Online Visa Application (Optional)
You can fill out the visa application online before arrival through Nepal’s official immigration website. This saves time at the airport.

Travel Requirements

Valid Passport
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.

Return or Onward Ticket
Some travelers may be asked to show proof of return or onward travel.

Travel Insurance
Travel insurance with coverage for medical emergencies, especially if trekking, is strongly recommended.

Trekking Permits
If you plan to trek in Nepal, you may need:

  • TIMS Card (Trekkers Information Management System)

  • National Park or Conservation Area Permit

Your travel company can arrange these permits for you.

Special Entry Requirements

Children
Minors traveling with parents need valid passports. Additional documents may be required if traveling without parents.

Citizens of SAARC Countries
SAARC nationals get discounted visa fees. Indians do not need a visa to enter Nepal.

Countries Not Eligible for Visa on Arrival
Some nationalities need to apply for a visa in advance through a Nepali Embassy. (e.g., Nigeria, Ghana, Iraq, Somalia, etc.)
